Abstract

This study is a stylistic analysis focusing on the semantic and phonological aspects of the song “Nour” by Zap Tharwat and Amina Khalil. The aim of this research is to reveal how sound and meaning interact to construct a distinctive aesthetic and ideological system within modern Arab musical texts. Employing a stylistic approach (al-uslūbiyyah/ الأسلوبية), this study integrates linguistic analysis—covering phonological, syntactic, and semantic dimensions—with a socio-cultural perspective that highlights the representation of women and discourses of social struggle in the song’s lyrics. The findings indicate that language in “Nour” functions as a medium of symbolic resistance against patriarchal structures, as well as a means of expressing modern spirituality through the symbol of light (nūr/ نور). This symbol not only conveys religious meanings but also reflects hope, awareness, and emancipation within the context of contemporary Arab society.
